The Cometary Science Archive seeks to archive all good photographs and other data on comets, for researchers at all levels. The following information is requested from observers for contributed images. Images will be accepted without all of the following information, but such images will not be as useful to researchers. (1) observer(s) (2) observing location (3) exposure time in seconds or minutes, with beginning or mid-time clearly stated in Universal Time, preferably given as decimal date, such as 2012 Oct. 12.25 UT = 6h UT on Oct. 12. (4) intrumentation (aperture, f/-ratio, type of telescope, camera, pixel size) and plate scale (arc seconds per pixel) (5) bandpass (if unfiltered, indicate general bandpass of CCD chip used; if filtered, specify filter, filter system, and wavelength range if not Johnson, Cousins, or some universally understood system) (6) type of image (if FITS, please also include a jpeg image for posting) (7) size of field in arcmin or degrees of arc (horizontally and vertically); orientation of field should be specified clearly in two directions (such as north and east) -- either on the image directly or in words (e.g., "right side of image is east, top side is north") (8) information about seeing, transparency (weather conditions), light pollution, moonlight, etc., especially if relevant (9) any additional information that you would like to have included with the posting of the image (such as an email contact or web URL) (10) Contributors should grant permission to the Cometary Science Archive to maintain images and information for research purposes and posting on the CSA website and possible publication in the ICQ. The CSA/ICQ will always clearly state that no images posted/published by the CSA/ICQ may be used elsewhere without the consent of the original contributors. Contributors are requested to post original images at their own website and send the URL to the following email address with as much of the above information as possible: ICQCSAimages (at) gmail (dot) com . The CSA will then obtain images from the stated website URL. Alternatively, single images (but no movies/videos) smaller than 5 MB can be directly emailed to the same email address.
